A few months ago was introduced to a free screen capturing software called Jing Project. I have only used it a few times but have been very happy with it. With the Jing Project you can capture images, record video, and share your creations with the world. The project will also host your images and recording video.
As far as I know Jing is the only free screen capturing software available. I searched and searched to find a free program and finally found it. Actually, the way I ended up finding Jing was through Twitter. Someone has asked about a screen capturing software.
Jing Project, a project by Tech Smith is compatible with both Windows and Mac. Tech Smith happens to be the creators of Camtasia Studio, which is the most popular screen recording software available today. Camtasia Studio is not free however. A hefty but completely worth it price of $299 is attached to this popular software. Most professionals will and are very happy with paying almost three hundred dollars for a program but me on the other hand ;o) . I like free!

Though Jing can do many cool things the program is limited. So I guess you get what you pay for. The great part about this software is that it is very easy to use and sharing your images and casting are simple as well. The only complaint I would have is that Tech Smith won’t be offering this program for free forever. So good things in life do come free - for a limited time ;o) .

Yeah, didn’t think you’d let us slide with that last answer… so … here’s the deal; Jing isn’t a product right now—it’s a project. What we’re trying to do is give this to the world and figure out whether it fills a need or provides a useful service. We’re asking for both your participation and feedback on this concept, so the least we can do is provide the Jing Project complimentary during this period. As we learn what you want from this, we’ll have a better idea what the pricing and business model might look like in the future.
More than likely if the price they attach to this program isn’t totally outrageous, then I will buy it. Though one of my life’s goals is to find the best products for free, I will pay if it’s useful and if I have to ;o) .
