Over the last few years I have been learning lessons on how I perceive failure. I have always been the type of person that appreciates a challenge so I decided to see setbacks in life and business as something to learn from which in turn challenges me to improve.
I suppose I should have been more careful when choosing the name for my new website (currently in prelaunch) for women bloggers but I was so jazzed at the fact that I could play on words with ProBlogger and combine it with “Her” to make it geared toward women.
Well, it seems I have confused a number of people as to whether ProBlogHer.COM was apart of BlogHer. My intention was never to confuse people but to just use a word that I thought fit the site - ProBlogHer. I received an email the other day from one of the co-founders of BlogHer explaining (she was very nice in her email by the way) that the name ProBlogHer.COM resembled BlogHer which is a trademarked name. Since both sites are geared toward women bloggers ProBlogHer.COM is in violation of the BlogHer trademark. Though I had no intention of making the site resemble blog her the fact that the topics were to closely related made it a violation.
Well, you live and learn, right? What I thought was a cool name for a site dealing teaching women about how to go about professional blogging, turn out to not be as cool as I thought. So back to the drawing board. Now I have the challenge of finding a name that will serve the same purpose as ProBlogHer had. I also have to change all of the social site that I have already started marketing through.
This setback is a challenge but I am up for it. At first I felt all was lost and was wallowing in self-pity but I have come to my senses and realize it’s not really that big of a deal. My husband was very supportive and talked me back to sanity. It’s early enough in the project to rename it with a fair amount of ease.
So for the next few weeks I will be cleaning up the old and recreating the new. As far as the pre-launch of this site goes, every thing is going very well. I am a little behind on some things but I think the buzz is generating nicely.

Comment is never a failure, because each time someone fails, such person realises a new way not to do a particular something.
