It’s refreshing to know that I am not the only one that understands the benefits of using social sites. I know there are a lot of people who do understand the benefits of social sites but I have been in circles that think they are all overrated.  Today I was informed of an article that explains the benefits as well as lists 50 sites that could benefit business marketing and networking.

It is my opinion that social sites can either, a) do nothing for your business or marketing plan or  b) change your entire approach to reaching customers and gaining customers (as well as readers).  As I have said before, there is a right way and a wrong way to use social networks for marketing. Your approach to marketing through social sites, (with the exception of maybe social bookmarks) must be on a more relational level. If done correctly the result could be a naturally generated buzz surrounding your business that would cost hundreds to thousands of dollars if it were a paid campaign.

Read the article 50 Social Sites That Every Business Needs A Presence On to find out which networks would work best for marketing your business. This article offers a short description on how you can use each one of these sites for your business.

You make an excellent point! The problem is that “socializing” at all of these sites is just too time-consuming. ;-) Not enough people see a quick enough return from all the time they’re investing.

If people took a more strategic approach they might feel differently. Thanks for stopping and commenting.

All types of free promotion take time. But social networking is more enjoyable and takes advantage of “word of mouth” in a viral way. Patience is advised, but like a snowball it will gain momentum with time.

Plus, you can exchange ideas when networking unlike other
    ways of promotion.
