Ever since iwebis acquired a pagerank it seemed my comment spam increased by at least 25%. Even though I have the Akismet plugin installed it hasn’t been able to catch all comment spam. Last week I installed the Content Spam Trap plugin and so far I am loving it. I haven’t had to delete any spam since I installed the plugin.
Badi Jones from Seologs.com created this much needed plugin to help those of us that prefer not to spend our valuable time deleting comment spam.
Comment Spam Trap kills spam in 3 ways:
- Invisible Email Field
The plugin adds an invisible email field that is invisible to
human visitor, but very visible to the spam bots. When they fill it in, the message is
considered spam.- One Extra Required Email Field
Just to confuse the spam bots further, an identical email field is added,
with the only difference being that this on is visible, and must be filled
in.
Of course this plugin does not eliminate all comment spam but it certainly reduces it. Thanks Badi Jones for this great plugin.
