It has only been a few weeks since I decided to attempt to earn the title of Queen of Social Marketing (or Queen of Social Network Marketing, still working on which title is best). I never really thought it was going to be an easy task so it’s no real surprise to me that I am having a hard time keeping up with it.
Joining networks is easy but contributing useful content is not all that easy. Actually it is trying to keep up with responses to the content that is the most difficult. Don’t worry, I am not giving up yet. I am just sharing some of my experiences so far. The purpose of this project is to find out how effective strategic social network marketing can be. I believe social network marketing has not been properly explored.
Most of the marketing techniques used on networks today are very similar to, if not exactly like spamming. It is my belief that if we actually contribute useful information to networks and find people seeking that information then we are more likely to reap long term benefits. If you sow good seed, nurture and care for it, you will reap good crops. Ok, that may have been dorky but you get my point
.
I also think it is important to give without expecting to receive. When we contribute content to networks our immediate goals should be to better someone else’s understanding or to try and make real connects with people. This approach maybe seem absurd to some but it really is the best approach.
I have decided to list a few goals for the Queen of Social Marketing branding project.
- I do my best to contribute information that is useful to others.
- I will contribute to without expecting something in return.
- I will try to contribute to at least one of the project networks each week.
- I will try and join one new network every week.
One important ingredient in any branding project is time. So of course this mean that this project will be on going. We will have to see with time what the results will be.
