Bringing An Existing Web 1.0 Website Into The Web 2.0 World - My First Consultant Job

Yesterday I had an exciting conversation with a friend of mine who is the webmaster of a very popular music website. He told me that his website receives as many as 600,000 hits a month but makes no money. After I picked up my jaw that had dropped to the floor due to shock and amazement at that statement, I began to tell him that he should be making money. I also told him that I would be happy to help him and his wife find out ways to make money with their website.

What I found when I visited the website was that it is basically a web 1.0 site that can easily be update to web 2.0. Also they have very limited knowledge about monetizing the website but I know they can make money through different types of online income sources I have found.

I am really excited about being able to work with this couple and have been given permission to use them as a case study. The study will document how we can bring a high traffic web 1.0 website that makes no money into a web 2.0 website that will hopefully make a good income for them.

As I document the process and progress of this project on iwebis, I hope that you will get involved and contribute your advice for improving the website’s look and monetization as well.

More details will be coming soon.
