The Web 2.0 Nonsense Name – Web 2.0 Name Generators

» by monawea in: Web 2.0

I must be adapting to the Web 2.0 nonsense words because I don’t cringe at the sound of them anymore. Website developers seem to be opting for the short easy to remember names like Twitter or iwebis for that matter, rather better long drawn out names.

With this new acceptance of nonsense words comes more desire to name sites with titles that have no meaning. iwebis is a perfect example of this naming technique. I chose the name iwebis because is was short and had the word “web” within it. Sites like Skype, Twitter, BoingBoing have paved the way for nonsense word acceptance. Making it possible for those of us who could not find an unregistered domain name or one that wasn’t being sold for a ridiculous amount of money, to find names that didn’t have to be a mile long.

If you are looking to name your site and just can’t find one that has keywords you want, maybe it’s time to look into the nonsense words. You can either come up with your Web 2.0 name yourself or use a generator. Before you chose your new name however you should be careful not to go overboard. Read/Write Web wrote and article called ” Top 10 Worst Web App Names” and I also found an interesting article on TheNextBigWebThing.com. I find it interesting that both of these sites have those mile long domain names I was mentioned earlier ;) .

Babblefly…that’s the first name I got from dotomator. Great 2.0 name for a blog, but it’s already registered.
