Remember Your Goals

One thing I have been hearing a lot of lately is that people who succeed with their dreams and acquire success as they see it, usually have to try several things before they find the one’s that works. You think of people like Thomas Edison and his thousands of failed attempts at inventing the light bulb. Why he didn’t give up at 100 attempts is beyond me. Instead, he persevered and continued trying at inventing the light bulb thousands of times. His goal was to create the light bulb and even though it took so much effort and sacrifice he did reach his goal.

Reaching goals and persevering I believe go hand in hand. If have made goals for yourself then don’t forget what really allows you to reach them. It’s taking the steps to reach them that get you there not just the idea of the goal. I think the failure to take the steps is one reason why some people don’t reach their goals.

The other reason people don’t reach their goals is because they are afraid of failure. If Thomas Edison decided to stop trying at 1,000 attempts then we would probably still have a light bulb today because no doubt someone else wouldn’t had recognized the need for perseverance and reach the goal of create the light bulb.

I wrote an article on my personal finance blog the other day about “keep moving forward”. I believe it is important to remember (but I sometimes have a hard time remembering) to keep moving forward even when we feel like stopping and wallowing in self-pity and the ” I can’t do it” mentality.

So today, I challenge you (and me) to remember your goals. If you don’t have any goals then make some and remember it takes perseverance and a ‘keep moving forward’ mentality to reach them.

Great post and I couldn’t agree more; we must make goals and stick with them or we will never strive for greatness. Life is trial and error and I have failed many times, but the successes make it all worth it
