I think I know why the "spam comments" on your blog have suddenly increased. It's not so much your page ranking, as well as the fact that links posted in comments here are followed by search engines, in contrast with many other blogs that have "nofollow" enabled. In fact I must blushingly confess that this is the initial reason I visited your blog myself... but since you ask "How come?" I only consider it the decent thing to tell you. Is this issue a GOOD thing or a BAD thing? Actually I don't know, right now. It may be good - after all, linking is the very lifeblood of the web, including blogs. On the other hand, if the comments tend to deteriorate into pure, non-related spam, it detracts from the value of your blog. This development is very new, at least the spreading of knowledge about it is very new. As far as I can see and say, the flood of unrelated comments will fairly soon diminish when the novelty wears off. And... those who STAY may turn out to be valuable contributors!
