The Importance Giving While Networking

Online networking is one of those things that can be done wrong (very wrong) or right. If you view online networking in the same way you view speaking to people in person then you are likely to be successful in achieving your desired results.

There are many different reasons people network but most people do because one of two reasons - to make friends or to find clients/potential buyers. Networking for friendship is rather easy to do. The key is to find like-minded people and chat with them. It’s similar to chatting with someone you see in your local grocery store on a regular basis.  Networking to find clients or potential buyers is also easy but is approached the wrong way.

Rare is the occasion that I find someone networking for the purpose of finding clients or potential buyers seem sincere or genuine. By this I mean in a social networking settings such as forums, Myspace or BlogCatalog for example, are often overrun by people just seeking to get and instead of give. You can tell when people are looking to get because they often don’t give anything that doesn’t have to do with their business or opportunity.

When you first discover all the income opportunites available to you on the Internet your first reaction is to try to get as many people as you can to buy a product or service you are selling.  Many people think all they have to do is join a few forums or other social networks and post advertisements. Even though the intention is to share, these types of contributions end up looking like spam. By advertising in this way, it is my opinion that you loose credibility and many times respect.

People that are giving with the mindset of not receiving anything in return are people who are most effective in this world. Giving is an important part of building relationships and building relationships is an important part of networking. Whether you are networking for friendship or to find clients it is important to contribute and exchange information out of a giving spirit. So instead of networking to find clients, network to give and potential customers/clients be more likely to want to know more about your opportunities.

It`s always good to give in order to get something.
    I`m a living example.
I`ve read your post, left a comment and it`s possible you visit my blog, too :)

That is right, give something, get something. If done right can get what you want or something aproximately. Do it wrong and get excatly what you do not want. I’ve been doing this with an On-Line campaign for a Beer concerts tours and getting what I WANT. My boss should read you!!
