Lately I have been thinking a lot about how to people become an authority in a specific niche. The first time I really thought about this was when I noticed that John Chow was calling himself a dot com mogul. It may be that someone else started calling him a dot com mogul first but the point here is that he is now considered by the world as a dot com mogul.
Becoming an authority in a blog niche is not as difficult as it may seem. Though I do not consider myself an authority in social media, blogging or online income sources at this point in time I do think I know how to achieve this title. It is my belief that if you are not already an authority by way of education or experience then the key to successfully achieving this is- time.
There are of course many more factors in successfully becoming an authority but I believe since we are in a world of “gotta have it now” and overnight millionaire dreams, most people give up before they really have a chance of succeeding. Yes, there are those become very successful with a few months of trying but for the majority it does take time to succeed.
If we think of becoming successful in terms of building a house we might better understand the importance of time. A well built house takes time to build. First the plans have to be drawn then the lot has to be graded and so on. If we skip any of the steps it takes to build our house then we may end up with an incomplete and unsafe house. In the end even if the outer appearance looks nice the structure is not complete and can create problems for us in the long run.
Many successful people will tell you that it took time and planning to reach their goals even if it looked as those they became an overnight success. Very rarely will success just fall into ones lap. In many cases accidental success leads to poor management of income as well as managing the business. You may think it strange of me to say but I am really glad I didn’t become an overnight success or even within a few months. I have learned so much about blogging, marketing and networking within the first year of blogging. If I had been able to gain quick success I might have missed the learning experiences which has caused me to become a better blogging.
So only time will tell whether I will reach a mogul title but I think that as long as I stay focussed in my goals and allow time to pass then I have a good chance of either feeling comfortable enough feel as though I am an authority or be given the mogul title by someone else.
What are your thoughts on this subject? Are you trying to become an authority in your niche?

Very nice article. I like others would like to be a web mogul as well but it takes a lot of time. At the moment I am running a lot of blogs, I quit my job and have 20 days to make my target.
