KickApps is not new to the web but it’s new to me so I thought I would share it with you. KickApps is community building platform that is incredibly easy to use. I am getting ready to create a community for one of my sites and I think I have found the perfect application. I have seen other social media application sites similar to KickApps but none of them have been at this level of quality or professionalism.
With KickApps you can host user generated that includes video, blogs, audio, photos, networking and syndication options. Users can offer content on others blogs/sites by embedding a KickApps widget. Here’s more info.
- Members can upload videos, photos, and audio
- All common media formats are transcoded and displayed in a custom Flash viewer
- No 3rd party player or client-side software required
- Strategically integrate your user-generated content alongside content produced by your editorial staff
- Present your media at your website (and all over the Internet!) in a wide variety of customizable, viral Widgets
Did I mention KickApps is free? My favorite 4 words - FREE! So how do they make money? They place ads on the pages you can buy out the ad inventory for a rate per thousand page views or API calls (CPM).
KickApps is an awesome application that I think will continue to gain popularity. Check out the KickBlog for more up-to-date info.

I haven’t heard of this before. It sounds very cool. Bookmarked! Thanks.
I still do not get it… How do they make money by offering free huge hosting space? I think there is a catch here and my advice is to go for a paid service.
Check out the video at the below link for a good overview of our pricing. It should clear up any questions you might have.
