I wrote about my Google Meme in an earlier post and since then I have found that I value it more than I thought. I had been having my Google Alerts sent to my personal email address but I have recently changed that. I have now created a Google email just for my Google Alerts.
The reason I am so pleased with the Google Alerts is because I am basically subscribing to keywords instead of feeds. I want to see what the latest news is all over the net not just on certain websites. It’s an excellent way to keep up with the latest news within the topics that interest me. I have also found some great websites through Google Alerts and I like the fact that my email is clean and simple with much less distractions than an aggregator.
There may be feed readers and aggregators that are similar to my ‘homemade’ Google Meme but for now it’s working very well for me. Google email accounts are also free and easy to use.
