A few months ago I installed the Kontera Control plugin on this blog and my Time To Budget blog. The idea behind Kontera Control is that you can keep Kontera ads out of specific posts. If you are writing sponsored reviews advertisers might be irritated by the fact that other links are appearing in their sponsored reviews. So the development of a plugin such as Kontera Control was a good idea. However I noticed that my BlogCatalog page hadn’t updated since June of 2007. I thought maybe it was a BlogCatalog error but then when I checked everyone else was updated I started to get worried.
It turns out that the Kontera Control plugin was the culprit. I found this out by going to my FeedBurner account and doing a Feed Validation. The results pointed out an error that had the words “KonaFilter”, which I figured meant Kontera Filter. After deactivating the plugin I deleted it from my plugin file and all turned out well.
I have had issues with my feeds and wonder if this is the reason all along. One day I would have 82 feed readers and then the next day (sometimes the same day) it would drop down to 60. I just can imagine 20 people all at once saying “This site is not worth subscribing to”. I am hoping this correction will help my feed subscribers count to increase. We will have to see.
