Guest Blogging is a Trade

The following article was written by a guest blogger. Unfortunately I was unable to get the article posted while I was on vacation. I really appreciate Grace offering to help me so I decided I would publish her articles this week. Thanks Grace!

I’m Grace, and I’m a guest blogger from NeonScent.com (a blog about web development, blogging, and how to make money online), and I’ll be guest blogging for Mona while she’s away. And since I’m here for guest blogging, I thought, why not write about guest blogging?

Guest Blogging is a Trade
When you guest blog for someone, you usually get something in return, which almost always is a link back to your own blog, or you’re good friends with the blog owner. The blog owner would in turn, get your posts while they’re away. Some people think guest blogging is not a trade, but a transaction. Where the blog owner would buy your posts with links back to your blog.

Guest Blogging is a Skill
Not everybody can guest blog. Some bloggers need to know their readers before they can write freely and possessively on their topic. Other bloggers are shy. There is also a jealousy factor, where if the blogger is jealous of the blog owner’s blog, they may do something to ruin it (such as write bad posts, or write mean posts).

Guest bloggers should be proud (but not too proud) of their skill.

The Trade of Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is also a risk; blog owners trusting their blog to a stranger or friend for a period of time. You never know what your guest blogger is going to blog about at your blog. Then you have to worry if your guest blogger is able to handle the frequent/infrequent blog posts, and how your guest blogger will respond to comments.
The thing most people worry about guest blogging is if their reader level will go up or down.

Blog Owners: Check in with your blog and your guest blogger once in a while.
Guest Bloggers: Try to keep the posts to under 2 or 3.
