I had a commentator on my Time To Budget blog recently and decided to visit his blog. His blog is called Pro Money Blog and I have to tell you this is one of the best examples of customizing/modifying a free theme. Every theme I have used has been theme I have modified myself so I know the thought that goes into it.
Dennis, the author of Pro Money Blog is using the well known Wordpress Blogging Pro theme. I have to say I like Dennis’ modified theme much better than the original. Though there is a lot of thought and tweaking needed in self-modifying themes, it’s usually very rewarding to know that one, you didn’t have to pay for it and two it fits your blog perfectly.

That IS a good transformation! I do want a different look for my blog, but learning how to customize and all that jazz is some hard work. I’m not a programmer, but the more time I spend on things like that, I feel like I am becoming one!
Dennis has done a good make-over of that theme and shows what the real passion of blogging can be to some people. In my opinion half the fun of publishing a blog is personalising the theme and keeping things fresh.

Hi K.M. Dodd, Yes I did customize the xMark theme. I mainly just changed the colors. It’s fairly easy to change colors. Go to my contact page and send me an email if you need some tips.
