Are You a Make Money Online “Blogaholic”?

Don't forget to subscribe to iwebis RSS feed. You can also Subscribe to iwebis by Email Thanks for visiting!

It was about a year ago that I started blogging and one might think my life is consumed by it. At one point in time I would say my life was consumed by the desire to make money online which had a lot to do with blogging.

I guess it was about 6 months ago that I realized that my priorities where completely out of order. My goal of making money was to benefit my family but my “workaholic” approach was affecting my family in a negative way. So my goals changed.

My first goal was to change my workaholic approach. I decided to make blogging schedules, income goals, plan ahead, treat my blogging like a job (a job I enjoy) and pray for it’s success. I no longer blog to make money. I blog to create useful content first and about things I enjoy writing about. I also diversify my income strategies and use multiple income sources.

So why am I sharing my blogging experiences and goals with you? Within this past year I have noticed a huge rise in “make money online” blogs. This rise not doubt has to do with the growing awareness that you can make money blogging. Now there is nothing necessarily wrong with “make money online” blogs except for the fact that there the blogosphere is becoming saturated with them.

My advice to those thinking about starting a blog is to blog about your interests first. Seeing as how we probably don’t really need another “make money online” blog then I would also recommend not making that the sole topic of your blog. As you have probably already noticed, iwebis does have a make money online page and I do write articles about the subject. But my goal for this site is to bring readers more than just articles about making money online.

If you already have a “make money online” blog, don’t be discouraged and quit writing. Offer the best information on making money online that you can to your readers. Then create another niche blog or two about topics that you already know something about or are interested in learning about. I highly recommend reading Maki’s series on niche blogging and his new article The Fastest Way to Build Traffic and an Audience for Your New Website.

[...] online” blog I wouldn’t recommend starting one at this point in time. Like I said in my Are you a Make Money Online “Blogoholic”? article the blogosphere doesn’t really need another “make money online” blog. [...]

Good content does take some time, but what I want is unique content. That’s a real challenge, coming up with something that hasn’t been done or isn’t well-known, having it be something that can actually help people, then publicizing the information.
