Because I use my blog also as a system I can play around on with webserver, database etc. I’m self-hosted. I played around with various applications to see what I liked best. At the moment that is Typo.

With a limited background in Internet programming I have been using the self hosted Wordpress format. The support that available is really extensive and there are the plugins of course.

I use Blogger, with the new Blogger software (for those keeping score at home), and I actually like it. Maybe because I don’t know any better. It’s decently easy for me to update, it’s hosted there which is nice, and I don’t have to worry about a lot of things.

Maybe had I started with Wordpress I would have liked the customization better, but with all my links pointing to my Blogger site, I don’t really feel like switching now. Maybe I’ll work on creating a more custom feeling Blogger layout, but for the time being, I’m sticking it out.

For the Classic Movie Lounge, I use self-hosted Wordpress. With all the plugins available, you can optimize for the search engines and customize quite easily.

For the SEMZone, we’re currently on self-hosted Blogger - which is not easy to customize at all. We’re hoping to switch to Wordpress soon.

I began with Blogger and have stuck with it with for many reasons. It feels familiar and safe, and I’m not ready to deal with all the troubles I’ve read that people who have switched to Wordpress have encountered.

I use a WordPress platform on my own domain. The WordPress plugins are very… interesting, and I like to experiment with plugins, get more comments and visitors, etc.
WordPress is byfar I think the easiest and the most customizable platform out there. Joomla doesn’t offer the flexiblility that WP has, neither does Mambo.

2Dolphins is a (Classic) Blogger-based blog that I host on my own domain. We started on this blogging platform and I’ve tweaked the heck outta the template and am pretty happy with it. Hopefully, it doesn’t have too much of the look or feel of a common Blogger blog. (Critiques welcome!)

Although from time to time I do get a little envious of some WordPress plug-ins I read about, thus far, there’s no missing features that’re so glaring as to convince me to make the Herculean effort to switch to another platform…
