BlogCatalog Mass Buzz Experiment

Don't forget to subscribe to iwebis RSS feed. You can also Subscribe to iwebis by Email Thanks for visiting!

I almost forget that I needed to participate in this mass buzz as well. Instead of writing an entirely new post I am just copy and pasted some of my orginal post.

There have been a few other blog focussed social networking sites introduced within the last year but none have impressed me like BlogCatalog. So how did BlogCatalog impress me?

  • User Friendly -BlogCatalog is easy to use. Not all people have the time or desire to try and figure out how to sign up and use an interactive site.
  • Site Design – I like the ‘blog style’ Blog Detail and Profile pages. As a blog reader and blogger author I feel very comfortable with the design. I was instantly familiar with the layout of this site.
  • Directory -I like the directory style blog browsing. Separating blogs into categories and being able to browse through the categories is simple but effective.
  • Widget -BlogCatalog offers widgets that are very similar to MyBlogLog’s widgets and just as customizable. It’s easy to put the two widgets together without looking cluttered or out of place. SmartWealthyRich.com uses MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog widgets together very nicely.
  • Interaction -Each Blog Detail page is like a separate blog page that shows recent views and friends. Viewers are also able to leave a comment without having to be a member of BlogCatalog. This is a very nice feature. One that I think MyBlogLog should learn from.
  • Recent Posts -My recent posts are in the main content section of my blog detail page and not in the sidebar. MyBlogLog offers only a tiny section at the bottom of your community page which really annoys me.
  • Discussion – They have a new discussion area that is fun to read and reinforces the community interaction.

Hi Mona, this seems like a really nice experiment! Blogcatalog is definitely one of my favorite social networking sites, it’s awesome to see everyone participating and joining in the discussions on the forum too :)

Thanx a lot for linking to my blog, i appreciate it a lot, happy you liked the way i put the blogcatalog and mybloglog widgets :)

Very nice post. I will consider joining though I am afraid the downside of it is that when you display users profiles on your blog it distracts and takes the attention away from content and ads… just my 2 cents.

Hmm, my comment disappeared. I know it’s late, but I did my BlogCatalog buzz post, here’s the URL:

And I added you to my Technorati Faves, too. Thanks for doing this!

    @ Ocean Nymph
Thanks for the input but I do think that without the readers a blog is nothing but a personal journal entry that does not require readers. I have discovered that if you reward your readers they will appreciate it and come back. Widgets like the ones BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog offer are popular because bloggers can self advertise by reading other blogs that have the widgets as well. I believe it’s all part of the changing web. Thanks again for commenting.

I can’t seem to comment on the participant list. :( probably not accepting comments with URLs at this time.

But I was just curious if you were only posting one blog per person? I did a double-post to 2 of my blogs. So if you are counting “blogs posted to” as opposed to “persons reporting in”, my other blog is at:
and the Moral of the Story is…: Moral # 10

    Thanks!
